Landscape inspired, fabric, papers and threads are layered with free machine embroidery onto mixed media backgrounds, or batik techniques are utilized to create textile art.
I have a stash of scarves that didn’t ‘make the grade’ for selling, so pieces of this and other fabrics are recycled into textile art. I print some of these pieces and collage them into landscape and nature inspired pieces. Then I add a final layer with free motion embroidery on the sewing machine.
The featured image is a close-up view of a textile piece created on a background of synthetic fabric using transfer dyes and fabric collage, then machine stitched for added texture. It was inspired by reflections and rocks in a pond.
