Batik Picture Making Workshop
Date: 16 March 10am -2.30pm. Cost: 20.00. Includes materials and refreshments.
Working in my well-lit studio, you will try various wax techniques on handmade papers (tissutex and mulberry) using found tools and the canting in a free, loose way. You will mix and paint with Procion dye, wax again and iron out. Pieces can then be selected with a window shape to cut out and use for cards. Participants can either bring their own blank cards or use mine at 20 pence each. (They are square and include an envelope). You will also use your experimental pieces as an inspiration for a picture. You can cut, tear and reassemble strips or shapes to create a small abstracted landscape picture, then glue the pieces down. It’s great fun to create in this imaginative way. There will be time to make several pictures and/or cards. I will show how your pictures will look mounted and fitted into a standard frame.
The workshop will take place with a minimum of 2 participants. I would also welcome one or two accompanied children aged 10 + .
On receiving your booking, I will send you the full address of my studio in Meols, Wirral.
